Why Donate?
“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
- Winston Churchill
Thank you for considering a donation to Habitat for Humanity of Douglas County. Each gift helps a family in need of decent shelter. Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law and will be acknowledged with a letter you may use for those purposes. Gifts made on-line are safe and will be put to good use by Habitat. We take seriously our responsibility to contributors, to those counting on our help to be wise stewards of funds entrusted to us.
We raise all our funds locally and receive no funding from Habitat for Humanity International. We support the efforts of Habitat for Humanity International by tithing 10% of all donations, unless the donation is restricted to be used in the Douglas County area. The success of our program and our homeowner families relies on the partnerships we share with community-minded individuals, corporations, foundations, the faith community, the building industry and volunteers. Together, the financial donations of our partners, the donated labor of construction volunteers and the homeowners’ contribution of “sweat equity” make Habitat’s mission possible. By sharing resources with those in need, we all can make affordable housing a reality for families in need in our community.

Habitat for Humanity has been reviewed by the Charities Review Council and is proud to have met its Accountability Standards. To read our charity review report, visit the Charities Review Council at www.smartgivers.org.
