Local Builders Coming Together to Build Hope and Homes
Two homes in five days will change the lives of two families forever
Habitat for Humanity of Douglas County is teaming up with local builders in partnership with the Vikingland Builders Association to take part in the National Home Builders Blitz 2012. The week of June 4-8, 2012, will see a flurry of activity, as two homes will be built from the slab up for two families in need of safe, decent and affordable housing.
A leadership team has been formed and planning is underway. Members of the team are Lori Anderson, Brian Berg, Tim Cullen, Brian Johnson, Paul Klimek, Steve Minnerath, Larry Okerlund, Greg Pouliot, Larry Puls, Roger Rosengren, Paula Shelander, Lynn Timm and Dick Welder. Several commitments for materials and labor have been secured for the builds. Contractors or suppliers interested in taking part in this build can contact Tim Cullen or the Habitat office for more information. In addition to the local support, the affiliate will be receiving some additional in kind support secured through Habitat for Humanity International.
There will be great coverage of this unique build experience, so make plans to follow the activity as it unfolds.
Site work is under way as the slabs for the homes are being constructed. The homes are located at the corner of Darling and Quincy in Alexandria.
