Build Group Opportunities

Opportunity starts with a home.

Construction volunteers make a tangible difference with each and every day they help build and repair homes.  No prior experience is necessary; we’ll show you what to do!

Please contact our office at 320-762-4255 with any questions about volunteering.

Note: Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to volunteer on the build site.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Is there an age requirement?

For safety reasons, build site volunteers must be age 16 or older.

  • Can I come late?

Please be on time. Each build day begins with a safety briefing and instructions for the day. When people show up late, important safety information may be missed.

  • There's bad weather. What should I do?

If weather conditions cause safety concerns, Habitat will notify your group contact. As long as conditions remain safe, we build rain or shine, in cold or hot weather. Bring appropriate gear and layers.

We follow District 206 for late starts/closures.

  • Where do we park?

Please park on the same side of the street, opposite of mailboxes.

  • Do I need to bring my own tools?

Habitat will provide all needed tools.

  • What will we be doing?

Habitat volunteers perform many tasks related to home building. At the beginning of each shift, the Construction Team provides a safety briefing and list of daily tasks, which may change due to weather or other factors.

  • Are snacks and water available?

Habitat provides a filliable water station - please bring your own water container. Light snacks will also be provided. If your group wishes to provide lunch, please contact the Community Engagement Manager.

  • Is first aid available?

A first aid kit, restroom, and handwashing station are available on the build site.

  • What do I wear to the build site?

    * Close-toed shoes (volunteers without proper footwear will be sent home).
    * Comfortable clothes that can get dirty.
