How long does the process take?

Most homebuyers complete the journey between 6-18 months. Timelines fluctuate based on various factors. We understand it can be a lengthy process, but our goal is to ensure homeowners are set up for success now, and well into the future.
What are the requirements to qualify for a Habitat home?

Habitat homebuyers are selected based on established criteria: need for housing, willingness to partner, and ability to pay.
What if I'm not approved?

Applicants who do not meet the homeownership criteria will receive a letter with a reason. Some homebuyers have applied more than once before being approved into the program.
How much does it cost?

Homes are sold at Fair Market Value, which is determined by a third-party appraiser. Through various partnerships, loan and downpayment programs, Habitat structures an affordable mortgage. Homeowners make regular monthly mortgage payments and are responsible for the upkeep of the home and property. Each homeowner will have a mortgage unique to their income level.
What size homes do you build?

The size of a home is determined by established household size guidelines. A typical home has about 1,200 square feet of finished living space. Habitat has built two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes.
