Homeownership

Thank you for your interest in becoming a homeowner! Our homeownership program empowers working individuals and families to help build and then purchase their own home.  We partner with future homeowners every step of the way, and provide the education and support needed to become successful homeowners.

Please contact our Homeowner Services Coordinator, Denise, with any questions at 320-762-4255.

About Our Homes

A typical new house has about 1,200 square feet of finished living space. Most homes have three bedrooms and one bathroom. Habitat uses green building practices to make homes and their utilities affordable. Homes are built with volunteers led by our Construction Manager.

What does it cost?

The value of each home is determined by a third-party appraiser and the home is sold at Fair Market Value to the homebuyer(s). Through various loan programs and partnerships, Habitat structures an affordable mortgage. Homeowners make regular monthly mortgage payments.

Habitat becomes the lender/bank after closing, we are not a landlord. We remain a source of support and information, and offer help as needed or when requested (ex: sharing reminders to file for property tax refunds).

Habitat is an equal housing opportunity.
